Hey there, fellow educator!
Remember those school lessons you learned through catchy tunes as a child? Well, there's a reason those memories stick with you - it's all in the brain!
Music has a remarkable way of activating various areas of our brain, including those responsible for movement, memory, attention, and emotion. So, why not harness the power of songs in your classroom?
But hold on, I'm not just dropping hints here – I've got some practical tips for you!
First off, think of a song whose melody you're comfortable singing (no need for nursery rhymes).
Next, consider the content your students need to grasp. Pick out key words related to this topic and think about how you can weave them into the song's melody to enhance learning in a bilingual setting.
Now, it's time to get creative! Play around with these words, fitting them snugly into the tune you've chosen.
Last but not least, make sure your lyrics make sense and you can sing them smoothly three times in a row.
Voilà! Sing along with your students and watch learning come alive!
I'd love to hear how your version turns out. Share it with me on Instagram @bilingualmusiceducation or tag me in your post. Can't wait to give you some feedback!
Rock on! 🎵🎶
