I understand how challenging it can be when your coordinator or director asks you to completely overhaul your planning and adopt a new methodology or teaching philosophy. It’s easy to feel like everything you’ve planned and taught up until now is being dismissed as worthless.


When someone approaches you with a proposal like this, or tries to sell you a new course, your initial reaction might be to resist. Unless you’re already familiar with what’s being offered, it’s natural to feel skeptical and reluctant to embrace it.


With this in mind, I want to invite you, especially if you’re not yet familiar with my work, to explore it further. Yes, I do want you to consider changing aspects of your lessons to help you feel less overwhelmed, but I would never dismiss your experience or previous teaching as unimportant. I know how much you’ve already learned and how hard you’ve worked to become the teacher you are today.
